KAHRA Team
The KAHRA team includes Aboriginal people from the Kimberley and non-Indigenous people who have lived in the Kimberley for many years. We have a strong commitment to ethical and appropriate practices that maintain cultural safety.
The KAHRA team’s activities include:
- Communicating widely about how Aboriginal health research needs to be done and how it can be useful;
- Advocating for what is most important to Aboriginal people in the Kimberley regarding research;
- Providing advice and support to Aboriginal organisations, communities and health services when they are approached about research or have their own research ideas;
- Assisting with research projects in the Kimberley on a fee-for-service basis;
- Providing a local option for evaluations of programs and services in the Kimberley;
- Keeping track of the research that is being done in the Kimberley, and help make sure the right people get the findings;
- Helping to uphold high research standards;
- Building up the Aboriginal health research workforce;
- Building and maintaining a health data platform and championing Indigenous data sovereignty; and
- Coordinating collaboration opportunities between different organisations involved in research in the Kimberley.
